In 2000, Rex Thomas, a resident of Ventura County for over 35 years, bought the company and wanted to transform it into a modern plumbing company using the newest in technology. With this new transformation came a new name DBA REX ROOTER using the Rx look, including the caduceus medical symbol in the name, because of the similarities of plumbing to the medical field. For instance, the use of cameras to see inside drains was similar to medical cameras used to look inside the human body for problems that exist. The use of Trenchless Technology is similar to noninvasive surgery that lowers the impact to the human body. The use of hydrojetting to clear away years of grease buildup inside drains may be likened to that of an angioplasty, which clears away fatty build up from major arteries within the body. 
The first big equipment purchase of the REX ROOTER plumbing company was TRIC Trenchless. Rex had already been introduced to the technology while working and supervising for another plumbing company. In the 1990’s, Rex was successful in introducing the new TRIC Trenchless system to municipalities within Ventura County so the technology could be accepted for Trenchless sewer drain replacement and permits could be pulled for the work. The city Inspectors were accepting of the technology and the way it worked with little impact to sidewalks, driveways, city streets, etc. 
Rex has had experience as a leader many times in his life. In 1991-1992, he was founder and president elect to the
Ventura County Chapter
of the Surfrider Foundation (SFVCC).
His volunteer work with the national organization in the 1980s won him the respect of local leaders and the surfing community.

Rex grew up with a father who was a perfectionist and had great integrity. Rex brings these traits to his company in providing the best service possible to each and every customer. His father had always told him “that integrity is something that cannot be taught, but that must be learned from within” thus, our trusted motto, “with Honesty, Quality, and Integrity.”
Rex has over 20 years in the plumbing industry including the supervision of other plumbing technicians. He holds the following certifications:
• Competent Person Training: Required by OSHA for work in Trenching and Excavation of underground utilities. 
REX ROOTER is a BBB Accredited Business with A+ Rating for over 25 Years, some things just never change, like the quality and integrity of our work! We our proud of our A+ Rating and use it in all of our advertising. The Better Business Bureau is a friend to both businesses and customers. As a customer too, we look to see the ratings of businesses that provide services and materials we use. If they are not a member or have a bad rating we may not do business with them. We believe in the service they provide to keep us safe from companies that do not provide the good service that all costomers deserve! 
REX ROOTER recycles used and surplus materials as much as possible. We recycle concrete, asphalt, water heaters, copper, brass and used plumbing fixtures. We support Habitat For Humanity thru RESTORE by donating used plumbing fixtures such as old sinks, faucets, toilets and surplus plumbing materials. Even some of our vendors such as Ferguson and Keenan Plumbing Supply have donated thru us surplus plumbing supplies to be sold in RESTORE stores or used in the building of houses in California for Habitat For Humanity. REX ROOTER pulls all permits as required by building code. We take pride in doing it right and have no problem having a city inspector inspect all our work! Many other companies will tell you that it may not be needed or they want the customer to pull the permit, these are signs of a unlicensed or uninsured contractor. The California State Contractors Board requires contractors to pull all their own permits. It is a fact that if your house is damaged by any work completed by an unlicensed plumber or without required permits, damages may not be covered by your existing homeowners insurance policy!

Original owners, Bonnie and Clyde Smith formed a small plumbing company in 1976 called, what else, Bonnie and Clyde’s Plumbing & Drain - Service Inc. in beautiful Ventura, Ca.
It was a cute, catchy name that most Ventura County residents and businesses became familiar with to meet all their plumbing needs.
They became a successful plumbing company doing both residential service and new construction for local contractors.
that is now used throughout the United States and Surfrider Chapters around the world. In 1984-85 he represented the US West Coast in the World Bodyboarding
Championships at Bonzai Pipeline, Oahu, Hawaii against seven other counties. He used his influence as a champion bodyboarder and surfing activist to start WAR ON DRUGS
in the late 1980s with the support of his surfing sponsors. As president and founder he gave presentations on “saying no to drugs” to young students in schools
using his success as a competitor.
